Many of us sat in front of our TVs last week, and watched Hurricane Sandy reap havoc on the USA. All the damage makes you wonder how it’s possible to get back to normal afterwards?

Ironically I was keeping up to date with what was going on whilst picking my way through disaster sites in Oslo. As I read about the wind speeds in New Jearsey I was on a burned down rooftop in Grønland which caught fire last year; when I saw pictures of New York flooding I was in a 100-year-old house which was covered in smoke and dust from a recent blaze; and whilst Manhatten plunged into darkness I was standing in a 20m2 room which was completely gutted.

It was all part of a shoot for SSG, a Danish company which has recently opened in Norway. They are the people who come in and fixes after flood, fire or oil spills.

On site, groups of experienced Danish workers were teamed up with their Norwegian counterparts. They were almost too efficient, and many of the places we were taking photos were looking like new by the time we got there. Maybe they worked a little bit too hard actually, as many of them we shook hands with were missing bits of fingers or thumbs.

Frank from SSG, pictured in the white overalls, was really helpful and took us wherever we wanted to go. These are some of the photos of our long, dirty, day in Oslo. The next day we were back at White Light Studios taking new profile pictures for SSG. I´ll post more when the website launches.

Advertising for TrønderEnergi

TrønderEnergi recently supported Orkdal Il to build a new Ski Jump stadium.
I was hired to take a picture for an advert, congratulating Orkdal on the new stadium (and to give Tronder Energi a bit of recognition of course!).
To meet the deadline, me and my assistant Wil woke up at 04:30 to catch the morning light.

The light was not exactly what we wanted, heavy rain and cloudy. And the coffee we picked up on the way was disgusting! We worked with the light best we could. The coffee was beyond saving though, and was dumped in the nearest bin. Both me and the costumer were really pleased with the final outcome

Brand new shoes

Travelled to Oslo to work on a new and exiting project.
Håvard Engell is probably the person in Norway who knows most about feet, and how foot problems are directly linked to other knee and back problems. Over the past years he has developed a new kind a shoe which will revolutionise footwear the world over – and now the time has come to introduce it to the world. I had the pleasure of trying them on myself, and wow!

Also had the pleasure of meeting Tom Stiansen which also is participating in the project.

Tronder Energi

Just completed a massive campaign for Trønder Energi. The advertising company, HK, came up with this great concept to take photographs of what was behind the bus shelters and post them on the bus shelters, creating an optical illusion for looking straight through the advertising hoardings. It was the perfect customer for this project – Tronder Energi is a local energy firm providing energy for local people. So what you see in the pictures – the street lights, the warm houses, people going about their ives – is powered by Tronder Energi.

So now I know every bus stop in town too!

Kristofer Hivju

Exciting day – taking portraits of Hollywood actor Kristofer Hivju.
Most people know him as the “hairy viking” Kristofer, but he has returned from the States after shooting a new film with Will Smith with a brand new look. Still beardy, but more trimmed. We got together in Trondheim and took some new photos for his portfolio.
Hopefully they will lead to more auditions from across the pond in the US of A. Maybe as a gangster this time =)

Mr Rosén

Just rushed down to Oslo today to do a photoshoot.
Having woken up to at 4 am in Trondheim, with 10 cm of fresh snow and icey windows on the car, it was a great change to arrive in Oslo where the sun was shining from a clear blue sky and 10 degrees.

It gave me the energy needed to photograph musician and tv-host Alex Rosén. For those who has seen him or know him, he never seems short on energy =)

Christmas with Ripoff

Helped film part of the new music video for Ripoff.
For the first time since summer the snow was falling heavily, so the mood was set for shooting some outdoor madness with horses, chickens and snowball fights.

Emil Eide Eriksen and Trond Bratland Erichsen are heading out to sea in just 4 days’ time, planning to cross the Atlantic … in a rowing boat! They expect to be at sea for 70-90 days. Do you think they will get tired of watching the sea for so long of a time? After all the storms this week you have got to feel for them.
Anyway, I wanted to support these guys by making them a profile picture to keep them motivated during the trip.
The shoot was in a ramshackle warehouse outside Trondheim, while the guys were making the final adjustments to the boat.
