Just rushed down to Oslo today to do a photoshoot.
Having woken up to at 4 am in Trondheim, with 10 cm of fresh snow and icey windows on the car, it was a great change to arrive in Oslo where the sun was shining from a clear blue sky and 10 degrees.

It gave me the energy needed to photograph musician and tv-host Alex Rosén. For those who has seen him or know him, he never seems short on energy =)

Christmas with Ripoff

Helped film part of the new music video for Ripoff.
For the first time since summer the snow was falling heavily, so the mood was set for shooting some outdoor madness with horses, chickens and snowball fights.

Emil Eide Eriksen and Trond Bratland Erichsen are heading out to sea in just 4 days’ time, planning to cross the Atlantic … in a rowing boat! They expect to be at sea for 70-90 days. Do you think they will get tired of watching the sea for so long of a time? After all the storms this week you have got to feel for them.
Anyway, I wanted to support these guys by making them a profile picture to keep them motivated during the trip.
The shoot was in a ramshackle warehouse outside Trondheim, while the guys were making the final adjustments to the boat.

Let´s hope they get to finish in one piece. They finish line is Bermuda; if that´s not an incentive I don’t know what is!?

Visit from Kenya

Got a visit from my great friend James last week.
He took the trip all the way from Nairobi, Kenya, to visit the Red Cross branch here in Trondheim.
He is one of the people who help me a lot in the ongoing project I have down in Nairobi.

I´m inspired by his courage, working as a volunteer in slums in Kenya, where help is most needed. He does´t have much to live off himself, but he makes the best of what he has. Every day is a challenge to stay alive; either from sickness, lack of food or the risk of being killed in a robbery.

For instance, the mark on his left eye is new since the last time I saw him. It is from an incident which happened a couple of weeks ago when two robbers ambushed him with guns and pistol whipped him.

He recently started a three year course in computer sience. Hopefully this will provide for a bright future for James. Studying, part-time jobs and full-time volunteering takes a lot of time and energy. Hopefully you will still find time to visit again James! Or we´ll see you down in Nairobi on the next leg of the project.

Photographing for Sonans in Oslo

Since it’s Movember I figured I start with a photo of a camera mustache.

Photographed some portraits for Sonans’ new campaign.

Me and my assistant Wil arrived in Oslo quite early so we spent the hour before the shoot at a cafe shop pouring coffee into our tired bodies.

Sonans have a great building with lots of light, but since it was a “school day” we had to look all over for a free room for the shoot. We ended up shooting the portraits in some kind of laboratory, with some dead bats and rats. Nice environment.

This morning the GPS was set for Stiklestad. Beautiful spot just 1 1/2 hours from Trondheim.

Vintage Murarbeid

What better way to spend a beautiful day than doing outdoor photoshoots?
Yesterday I did two photoshoots for Murarbeid, a company which is renovating the old walls at Steinvikholem and Festningen. These are two of the most known monuments in the Trondheim area, both with fascinating histories.

We choose to take photos in a vintage style, which mirrors the fact that Murrarbeid are using the same techniques on the walls today as their counterparts would have done 100 years ago. It is workmanshift at its best… the stone masonary that is, not the pohotography! Though I am expecting some great results form the shots too, which I´ll post here once the editing is complete. In the meantime, here are some background images from the day´s shoot.
